Anthony Edwards’ hilarious take on being guarded by Victor Wembanyama

Anthony Edwards sank a late jumper to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 104-103 victory via the San Antonio Spurs. Game at Target Center vs Victor Vembanyama and co., ANT contributed 23 points and three assists to rally his team from a 19-point deficit.

After the game, he was in a great mood, hilarious explaining how it was supposed to be guarded by Wembi.

“I was lost. Did you see me? I was like, hell, should I shoot, should I drive it? I was confused,” he explained per clip published by Sneaker Reporter on Ks.

“I was lost, I didn’t know what to do now. He’s so tall, bro. Like, he can take away everything. He can take away the layup, the rebound, he’s got good feet, he can move. So he’s unique,” Edwards said, revealing the limited options he found against Wembanyama.

The Spurs went on a 16-0 run and held Minnesota scoreless for nearly five minutes to start, but Edwards scored in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 of his 23 points in the final period as Minnesota outscored San Antonio 33-18. Edwards’ late heroics came after being held without a basket for most of the night, his first Wolves basket coming at 7:22 of the first quarter.

Vembanjama, in his first start since New Year’s Eve, finished with a record 29 points and seven rebounds. He got off to a strong start, including two lob steals that helped San Antonio jump to a 16-0 lead, and remained the focus of the offense.

Wemby scored 16 points and six rebounds in the first half. Minnesota employed a huddle-and-defend strategy with Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle, limiting him to just 13 points after the break and drawing a Flagrant 1 foul on Gobert late in the game, which also resulted in Gobert’s one-game suspension.
