‘No timetable’ for next Anthony Davis injury update



DALLAS— Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis previously suffered ligament damage in his left hand. He could miss several months of action if surgery is required. Mavs head coach Jason Kidd told reporters ahead of Monday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets that a the timeline for the update is currently uncertainbut the AD is due to meet with the doctors this week.

“Sometime this week he (Davis) is going to talk to the doctors, but there’s no timetable or timetable for when he’s going to make that announcement,” Kidd said.

Davis was mentioned in trade rumors prior to the injury announcement was made. Now, the chances of an AD trade this season seem slim. The next injury update will go a long way in determining whether a deal will come to fruition before the trade deadline.

Injuries continue to plague this Mavs team. Kidd is doing everything he can to help the Mavs compete despite all the absences.

“We’ve been through this before, not just with AD, but we’ve had a lot of injuries over the last few years,” Kidd told reporters. “The mentality of the next man up. You have to play, you have to be professional.”

Kidd was also asked about his injury status PJ Washingtonwho is out with a sprained right ankle.

“He’s working in court and hopefully he’ll be back in a week.”

The Mavs and Nets will tip off at 8:30 PM EST in Dallas. Both teams have struggled and Dallas is 14-25 while Brooklyn is 11-25 heading into Monday night’s contest.
