Russell Westbrook apparently admits he roasted the Lakers

The The Sacramento Kings aren’t exactly they’ve been big this year, currently 10-30 in the 2025-26 NBA season, but have had an impressive last few games, picking up wins over the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers in the nights back. On Monday night, the Kings poured in 124 points, led by DeMar DeRozan, who scored 32, and Malik Monk, who dropped 26 off the bench to burn his old team.
It was also a strong game for another former Laker, Russell Westbrookwho scored 22 points in the win, and after the game Westbrook became 100% real to his emotions after beating his old team.
“I play the same way every night, but I enjoy beating teams I’ve been on before, for different reasons,” Westbrook said, per Oh No, It’s Not on X, formerly Twitter.
Westbrook’s tenure in Los Angeles was by far the darkest point of his future Hall of Fame career, as the Lakers floundered and missed the playoffs entirely during the 2021-22 season before eventually trading him during the 2022-23 campaign. His time with the Lakers was marred by horrendously missed jump shots, to the point where fans at Cripto.com Arena were actively groaning every time he went to shoot, as well as an apparent lack of synergy with James and his other teammates.
Still, Westbrook deserves credit for finding a way to continue to stay in the league over the last few years since that ugly meltdown, currently providing veteran leadership and solid production for a Kings team that has found a way to knock off some powerhouses this year despite their poor record.
Either way, the Kings will look to upset another tough opponent when they next take the floor on Wednesday night at home against the New York Knicks.
