Draymond Green calls the Knicks the “dark horse” of Ja Morant’s trade suitor

The The Golden State Warriors were up and down so far this season, currently looking to rebound after a recent home loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, all eyes are on the Memphis Grizzlies after reports surfaced from ESPN’s Shams Charania that the team was open to exploring trade ideas for point guard Ja Moranta.

Most recently, the Warriors power forward and longtime rival of the Grizzlies Draymond Green went to The Draymond Green Show yes there are a couple of enigmatic ones floating around potential trade destinations for the peak season.

“Sacramento Kings—I could see it. Miami Heat? Absolutely. Toronto Raptors? Possibly. The dark horse I’d throw out is the New York Knicks. I haven’t seen any reports linking them, but imagine Ja Morant in Madison Land Square Garden. It’s a box office. Needless to say, he’s getting a better trade right now if Ja Morant gets better. mistake—when you have that level of talent, your team improves overnight,” Green said, per Hoopship.

It’s unclear why the Knicks would ever consider trading for Morant given that they already have one of the best point guards in the NBA in Jaylen Brunson, and given that Morant’s star power and stature in the league have declined significantly over the past few seasons, making the box office point less relevant.

Still, Green and others in the Western Conference would likely prefer to send Morant to a team in the Eastern Conference, given how unbalanced the two conferences already are in terms of talent.

Either way, the Warriors will get their next shot at the Grizzlies right around the Feb. 9 trade deadline, when things could really heat up on the Morant front if something isn’t already done by then.
