Mike Tomlin is stepping down as head coach after 19 seasons

2026 will be a new era for Pittsburgh Steelers. After Monday night’s playoff loss to the Houston Texans, longtime Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, withdraws. Tomlin was a head coach for 19 years and was considered one of the best coaches of the last 15+ years.

In 19 years, Tomlin has never coached with a losing record. He put his team in positions to be successful by getting plenty of playoff opportunities, winning the 2009 Super Bowl against the Arizona Cardinals. Despite his great success, it seemed clear that Tomlin would not be a long-term option in Pittsburgh.
