Anthony Davis is not talking about ‘lying’ in the middle of surgery, the trade reports

The The Dallas Mavericks were playing the last few games without Anthony Davis in the lineup due to a hand injury, and on Tuesday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Davis would probably be subjected an operation that would sustain him for several months. Charania also reported that this would not necessarily detract from the Mavericks’ trade talks with teams surrounding Davis as the deadline approaches.
However, later in the day on Tuesday, Davis himself took to X, formerly Twitter, with a message it seemed to backfire on these reports.
“You better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!” wrote Davis on X, formerly Twitter.
Davis then responded to a Legion Hoops post on X that relayed Charania’s report.
“Lies!” Davis wrote.
Overall, it’s unclear if Davis is hitting back at reports of the surgery or reports that the Mavericks still want to trade for him, but it seems clear that there’s a disconnect between the national media’s perception of the situation and Davis’ own.
Davis has been a member of the Mavericks since the infamous Niko Harrison trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers a year ago, and his time in Dallas thus far has been marred by injuries and inconsistent play. The fact that the Mavericks were able to get the first pick and draft Cooper Flagg last year might make the Davis trade easier to swallow.
The Mavericks next take the floor on Wednesday at home against the Denver Nuggets.
