Austin Reeves’ agent confronted Rich Paul about the trade idea

The The Los Angeles Lakers are back into the win column on Tuesday night with a big win over the Atlanta Hawks, with both Luka Doncic and LeBron James playing for the second night of back-to-back games. Meanwhile, rumors have been swirling around the Lakers following a Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul publicly suggested that the team trade Austin Reevescurrently out of the lineup due to injury, to Memphis Grizzlies in trade for Jaren Jackson Jr.
Paul commented on the “Game Over” podcast with Max Kellerman and one person who is apparently he didn’t take too kindly on the trade proposal was Reaves’ agent, Reggie Berry.
“One of Reeves’ agents, AMR’s Reggie Berry, approached Paul on the sidelines near half-court on Tuesday at halftime of the Lakers-Hawks game. The two spoke for more than five minutes, and the topic of conversation was Paul’s public trade scenario for Reaves, sources told ESPN,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported.
The wealthy Paul has been known for years to use the public to get his clients to new destinations, so it should come as no surprise that Reeves’ agents wouldn’t be too happy about his latest proposal.
Meanwhile, Paul is largely seen as a professional spokesperson for Lakers star LeBron James, but James clarified that Paul’s stance on Reaves is not his.
“Rich is his own man and what Rich says is not a direct reflection of me and how I feel,” James said, according to McMenamin. “And I hope people know that. I hope people know that, and if they’re not smart enough to know that, then I don’t know what to tell them.”
Overall, it remains to be seen if anything will materialize on the Reaves front, but the Lakers could certainly use a player like Jackson Jr., who would bring them much more defensive versatility than they currently have on their roster.
