Zach Edey missed another 6 weeks with an ankle injury

The Memphis Grizzlies he’s had a few injuries in the team for a while now, including that one Zach Edey, who was left out with a stress reaction in the left wrist. The Grizzlies offered an update on the second-year big man, and it looks like there’s some time until he’s back on the court.

“Zach Eddy continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left ankle that was initially diagnosed on December 11th. Based on the unanimous recommendation of the consultation specialist, Eddy will continue his current offload and rehabilitation plan, with a re-evaluation to follow in approximately six weeks,” the Grizzlies wrote.

Edei played in only 11 games this season, as he averaged 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He looked to be on his way after dealing with injuries in his rookie season, but he just happened to have another setback.

With Edey out, Jock Landale took over as the starting center and has been playing well so far. The Grizzlies still have Jaren Jackson Jr., so their frontcourt isn’t completely depleted with Eddie on the sidelines, but it would be nice to have them on the court at the same time.

Injuries have been the name of the game for the Grizzlies over the past few seasons, but last year they managed to overcome them and make the playoffs.

This season, they are hovering around the Play-Ins as they are currently 17-22 and ranked 10th, but the Los Angeles Clippers are sneaking up on them.

The Grizzlies also appear open to making some deals before the trade deadline, led by All-Star point guard Ja Morant. It’s uncertain if they’ll get an offer for him they like before the deadline, but they don’t seem to be in a rush to move on from him.
