Brice Sensabo’s record start from the bench
He would have been a great MVP of the night, but unfortunately for him, Jazz he finished bowing Bulls.
however, Brice Sensabaugh he made an impression with a career high (43 points) and above all a fiery first quarter, with 21 points on 8/9 during this first period. Since 1997/98, when the NBA began videotaping all games, no substitute has scored as many points in the first quarter!
Powered by a catch-and-shoot three, the former Ohio State standout showed off his full offensive range, shooting 3-pointers off the dribble, working in the post or mid-range. To cap off this remarkable first quarter with a one-legged floater that spoke volumes for his confidence…
“He had more opportunities first and that helped him get into his matches and show the different things he can do.” explain Will Hardyson coach. “We worked a lot with Brees last year and he worked a lot on really improving in terms of catch-and-shoot 3-point shooting, getting his support up, getting his shot up, because he’s an elite shooter.
“Brice has always been a shooter”
But there is a Paul Pierce in Brice Sensabaugh, in the way he uses his body to always find a balanced shot, no matter how much pressure the defense puts on him. No crazy explosiveness or looseness.
“Brees has always been a scorer. Last year we wanted to prioritize that aspect of scoring and focus on his catching and shooting. And I think he did a very good job. But as we saw tonight, and as we’ve seen plenty of times before, there are a lot of other things that Brees can do.” continues his coach. “He’s a good isolation shooter, he’s very good at using his body and creating space. The work he’s done on his body, you see another level of explosiveness when he drives right to the rim.”
Enough to allow him to get more opportunities… and therefore utilize other aspects of his game.
“The opportunities he had allowed him to settle down. When you’re young, you don’t play a lot of minutes and you take a lot of catches and shots: the weight of every shot can become very heavy. So the situation has changed a little bit for Brees and it’s allowed him to discover more of his game.” concludes Will Hardy about his player.
