Jackson Hayes Injury Status vs. Hornets

Jackson Hayes has been ruled out for the Lakers’ game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, with head coach JJ Redick admitting that Hayes’ hamstring strained the night before against the Sacramento Kings and was unable to return to action. Hayes was also scheduled to have an MRI this week, although the results have not yet been released.

With Hayes not completely ruled out for the Hornets game, that leaves the chance that the MRI results could be positive and he could be available to play. Without him, the Lakers opted to go with small-ball lineups against the Hawks during the minutes Deandre Ayton was off the floor.

After re-signing with the Lakers in the offseason, Hayes has been a pleasant surprise with his consistent energy off the bench. He appeared in 32 games, including four starts, with just over 17 minutes per game. He averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds on 76.6 percent shooting from the field and 65.5 percent from the 3-point line. He also made his only 3-pointer so far this season.

When it comes to whether Jackson Hayes plays tonight against the Hornets, the final, definitive answer likely won’t come until right before the game.
