Timberwolves linked with Malik Monk trade with Kings

The The Minnesota Timberwolves were solid so far in the 2025-26 NBA season, he is currently 27-14 heading into Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets. Anthony Edwards continues to produce at an All-NBA level for Minnesota, and the team has also gotten great play from power forward Julius Randle of late.

Right now, many see the perimeter secondary behind Edwards as the Timberwolves’ biggest weakness moving forward, and ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel recently reported on a name Minnesota has been linked to who could help them in that department.

Siegel noticed that scouts around the league “Look at the Minnesota Timberwolves as a potential landing spot.” Malik Monk… he absolutely can be a great player in a system run by Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle.

Siegel also offered a potential package of Mike Conley, Rob Dillingham and a second-round pick as what the Timberwolves could offer the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Monk.

Monk has been missing on the Kings this year, although he recently had an explosive game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Meanwhile, Dillingham hasn’t proven to be the dynamic bench scorer the Timberwolves hoped they would get when they drafted him two years ago, so it would make sense for them to want to bring in a more established microwave scorer to add to their bench.

While Monk may not solve all of the Timberwolves’ problems and bring them to the level of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West, he would certainly provide Minnesota with a more consistent game on the perimeter when Edwards is off the floor and a threat to catch fire on a nightly basis.

Either way, the Timberwolves and Rockets will tip-off Friday night at 9:30 PM ET from Houston.
