Davis packages are considered unrealistic after his latest injury

Anthony Davis was initially seen as a significant trade candidate for Dallas Mavericksbut after another injury, the trade talks surrounding Davis settled down. Davis suffered a hand injury that came with ligament damageand will be out for six weeks. He was supposed to have surgery, but decided to skip the surgery and will be out for six weeks instead. The injury is hurting his stock, though.

ClutchPoints’ own NBA insiders Brett Siegel and Tomer Azarly also talked about Anthony Davis’ trade value as we approach NBA trade deadline and Siegel said the Mavericks want to get his value back and won’t dump him for nothing, and because of that the deal may not be done because other teams won’t want to take a chance on him after being injury prone in Dallas.

“They’re not just going to sell it for nothing,” Brett Siegel said. “They want to try to get some value back and not just take a pay cut. So they’re probably not going to get that at the trade deadline right now. I don’t see that happening when the team gives up multiple draft picks or young talent for a guy like Anthony Davis, who’s played what, 15, 20 games since joining the Mavericks?”

Siegel and Azarly went on to discuss what would happen if the Bucks were to trade with the Mavericks for Davis, and how, given the injury and his overall injury history, it doesn’t make much sense. The Bucks want to win now, and trading for Davis doesn’t automatically help them do that.

This season, Davis averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks per game in 20 games played. Those numbers are still good, but the problem is availability. If a team like the Bucks, who need help right now, tries to make a move for him, he can’t be relied on for that.

However, as the trade deadline approaches, some teams get desperateand you may see more teams make a move despite the injury.
