Thompson (Ausar) added that it was always a blessing to face his brother Amen and that they both got the chance to play in the NBA. However, he also noted that he takes the same approach to this game as any other.
Thompson helped the Pistons improve this season, he averaged 10.9 points with 5.9 rebounds per game and shot 50.8% from the field. Overall, he was a steady force in the starting lineup. Thompson is one of the best defenders in the NBA, and his brother Amen is right behind him in terms of defensive metrics.
The Thompson twins have faced each other four times in the NBA. So far, it’s been almost identical stats, with neither getting a huge advantage. Ausar averaged 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game against the Rockets when guarded by Amen. Meanwhile, Amen averaged 10.3 points per game when guarded by Ausar.
The battle between the brothers is unique in that both are top draft picks and active contributors to their teams’ chances of success. While it is The Pistons are struggling with Eastern Conference teams for first place, the Rockets are battling with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers for third place in the Western Conference. Regardless, both Thompson brothers feel they will play an instrumental role in the sequel.
