Anthony Davis is in trade talks with the Hawks, and the Raptors are opting out
Although there have been huge speculations regarding the potential trades for Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis, the latest reports may suggest there is little movement on that front. As Trade rumors surrounding Davis now center on his injury history, the latest from Jake Fisher goes to two teams that have reportedly been chasing the star.
The two teams that were linked to Davis before the Feb. 5 trade deadline were Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptorsboth of whom may have opted out of any talks. Fisher wrote for The Stein Line that both Atlanta and Toronto “give a signal that they are no longer involved” in talks with Dallas.
“Honestly, it’s hard to find any active trade scenarios involving Davis at (the moment),” Fisher wrote. “In recent days, both the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors — teams previously described as Davis’ most ardent suitors — have signaled they are no longer involved in significant trade talks with the Mavericks. Interest in Davis appeared to have cooled since last week’s announcement that the 32-year-old would be sidelined for at least six weeks with a hand injury.”
Anthony Davis’ injury history affects the state of the Mavericks
With Davis is now dealing with a hand injurywhen it was announced a week ago, the report was that ligament damage in his left hand would keep him out for six weeks. With his trade action seemingly set to cool before the deadline, ClutchPoint’s NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that with what Dallas is asking for Davis, he does not see that an agreement will be reached.
“They’re not just going to sell it for nothing,” Siegel told Clutch Scoops last Thursday. “They want to try to get some value back and not just take a pay cut. So they’re probably not going to get that at the trade deadline right now. I don’t see that happening when the team gives up multiple draft picks or young talent for a guy like Anthony Davis, who’s played what, 15, 20 games since joining the Mavericks?”
Either way, it remains to be seen what happens with Davis, but it looks like he’ll be staying with the Mavericks, looking to bounce back from yet another injury.
