Cameron Smotherman collapses at weigh-in during criticism of Michael Bispig

The UFC 324 weigh-ins held on Friday, as the fighters on the card had to ensure they were at the right weight for their upcoming fight. However, there was a terrifying moment after Bentasha’s Cameron Smotherman passed out and collapsed on stage just after the weigh-in.

Fighters go through a lot of work to reach their target weight for their fights. That seemed to be the case for the 28-year-old fighter, who pushed himself beyond his limits after initially weighing in at 135 pounds. After getting a second chance to make weight, Smotherman fell face down on stage as he tries to exit.

During that terrifying moment, the UFC legend Michael Bisping he stood near the stage serving as announcer and weigh-in analyst. As Smotherman weighed in for the second time, Bisping criticized the fighters who struggle to make weightclaiming that it’s their job, and that he has no sympathy for fighters who can’t reach their target weight before a fight. Immediately after saying that, Smotherman collapsed.

“I never had any sympathy for these guys,” Bisping said. “You have one job. Show weight in shape… You’re a professional fighter. It’s not hard, is it?”

“Oh s***. He passed out,” Bisping declared.

After the incident, Smotherman was taken off the stage and rushed to the hospital. He was eventually fired. His scheduled early preliminary fight against Ricky Turcios was canceled almost immediately.

The main card for UFC 324 still scheduled to start at 9:00 PM EST. It will be the first card to air on Paramount Plus, as the organization no longer airs PPV fights on ESPN+.
