Keon Ellis’ Flop of the Year candidate in the heat against the Pistons
Things went a little haywire along the way Sacramento Kings game against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, with Ron Holland ejected after a mini-brawl in which he shoved Keon Ellis. After Holland shoved Ellis to the floor, the Kings guard obviously added a little extra in your reactionthus qualifying the incident for the NBA’s failure of the year.

Flop of the Year isn’t an actual award in the NBA, but if it was, Keon Ellis might have some excuse for his shot during the Kings’ game against the Pistons. Holland clearly pushed Ellis, but it didn’t seem like enough to warrant such a reaction. The incident occurred while Holland was guarding Ellis about halfway through the fourth quarter. Ellis reached up and dislodged the ball, and the duo tangled near the sideline.
The Kings had a double-digit deficit at that point, and the Pistons won 139-116. It was the fifth straight loss for the Kings, and they fell to 12-35 on the season. They are currently in 14th place in the Western Conference standings.
even so Ellis was a sought-after player on the trade market by rival teams. The The Kings reportedly made Ellis available before the NBA trade deadline. He is the epitome of a 3&D player who can help a number of contenders as they prepare for the playoffs.
Ellis has appeared in 39 games this season, including five starts, logging just over 17 minutes per game. He averaged 5.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals on 38.4 percent shooting from the field, 35.7 percent from the 3-point line and 63.3 percent from the free throw line.
