Rising stars announced for All-Star weekend

One of the opening events NBA All-Star Weekend is a Rising Stars competition, a game that pits some of the best rookies, sophomores and G League players against each other. The NBA announced the event’s participants on Monday, led by several rookie standout in Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Charlotte Hornets wing Kon Knuepel, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoint.
Flagg and Knueppel were the favorites for the Rookie of the Year award, and they are the headliners of the rookies roster for the game Rising Stars. They will be joined by VJ Edgecombe, Derrick Queen, Cedric Coward, Dylan Harper, Tre Johnson, Collin Murray-Boiles, Egor Demin and Jeremiah Fears.

The format for the Rising Stars event at NBA All-Star Weekend will feature four teams of seven players each. The 21 rookies and sophomores will be divided into three equal teams. The opening games are played up to the target score of 40 points, and the final games up to 25 points.
