Klay Thompson’s Dad Fuels Giannis Trade Rumors to Dubs

The The Golden State Warriors are in need trade deadline miracles to help them turn their season around after Jimmy Butler’s recent ACL injury. Many floated Golden State as a potential landing spot for the Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpoand on Wednesday, a new chapter was added to the Antetokounmpo trade saga.

“Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home by the Feb. 5 NBA trade or offseason deadline as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks and the franchise is starting to listen,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Now Michal Thompson, former NBA player and father of Warriors legend and current Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson, adding fuel to the fire with publication on Ks.

“So…the market is now open for Janis? MY prediction? He’ll end up in SF…” Thompson wrote.

Needless to say, fans in the comments section had their thoughts.

“What could Golden State offer that Milwaukee might want?” one fan wondered.

“If there’s a chance he comes West, I believe it’s GSV or Lakers. Knicks or Miami if he decides to stay East for sure. (Leaves more to Knicks),” predicted another.

All in all, it would certainly be hard to imagine the Warriors being able to muster the necessary resources it would take to acquire a player like Antetokounmpo in a trade.

The Bucks’ star’s recent injury concerns might cheapen his value a bit, and if Antetokounmpo were to demand a trade to a specific destination (Golden State in this case), that could certainly make things easier.

However, at this point it appears that Mike Dunleavy and his Warriors colleagues will be looking for smaller, more realistic moves before the Feb. 5 deadline.
