Alperen Sengun suffers from an injury in the second leg with Spurs

Fans on Houston Rockets held their breath afterwards Alperen Sengun appeared to suffer an ankle injury in the fourth quarter against the San Antonio Spurs at the Toyota Center on Wednesday.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that Sengun limped to the locker room after sitting on the bench for some time. Sengun took a shot when it landed on Devin Vassell’s leg. Siegel noted that the talented center missed time earlier in the season with an ankle injury.

Fortunately, Sengun was quickly cleared and back in the game.

“Good news for the Rockets and Sengun, as the big man is back in action and will finish this matchup against San Antonio,” Siegel said.

The Rockets, however, fell to the Spurs, 111-99. San Antonio avenged a 111-106 loss to Houston at the same venue last week.

The 23-year-old Sengun finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. He struggled from the field, missing 12 of 20 attempts. He had a great goal against Victor Vembanyama, which delighted the crowd.

Houston fell to 28-17, while San Antonio improved to 32-15.

The situation also changed in the match between Sengun and Vembanyama. In the Spurs’ loss to the Rockets last week, it was Wembanyama who struggled from the field, shooting 5-of-21 for 14 points.

As the season nears its halfway mark, the Rockets cannot afford to lose Sengun, who has been the team’s anchor on both ends. He got along well with Kevin Durant despite early concerns that the frequently used two stars could be problematic.
