Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini is honest about Connor McDavid’s expectations

McLean Celebrini is in the midst of a season to remember. Sophomore center San Jose Sharks has become one of the best stars in the NHL. He helped lift his team dramatically up the Western Conference standings.
“Tonight I hope he doesn’t do anything, and in a week, I hope he does a lot.”
Tonight, Celebrini talks about how she will play McDavid, balancing the excitement for the Olympics but focusing on #SJSharks games right now and more on SJHN YouTube: https://t.co/raIiOm7PIm pic.twitter.com/9s1UdSIiNu

Celebrini was a top pick in the 2024 NHL Draft because of his skating speed, stick skills and his ability to shoot the puck with accuracy and speed. He quickly became one of the elite scorers in the NHL with 27 goals and 51 assists for 78 points. His talent will be showcased during the Olympics with the Canadian hockey team.
Celebrities and the Sharks have risen from the depths of the Pacific Division to contend for a Western Conference playoff spot. As the Sharks prepare to face the Oilers in Edmonton on Thursday night, the Sharks have held on to the second Wild Card spot. The Sharks played some of the most exciting hockey in the NHL.
A matchup with the Oilers means Celebrini will try to match talent against talent Connor McDavid. It will be an exciting challenge for The Sharks’ young superstar as McDavid is generally considered the best player in the NHL — if not the world. McDavid scored 33 goals and dished out 59 assists for a league-leading 92 points.
Celebrini was asked about competing with McDavid and then teamed up with him during the Olympics. “Tonight, I hope he doesn’t get anything,” Celebrini said of McDavid. “I hope he gets a lot next week.”
There is an excellent chance that Celebrini and McDavid will play on the same line for Canada at the Olympics.
