Victor Vembanyama puts Kon Knuppel on the poster with an epic alley-oop

The San Antonio Spurs were hoping to start a mini-game winning streak in their game against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. While the Spurs trailed by double digits at halftime against the Hornets, Victor Vembanyama had one of early game highlights after throwing down a poster for a dunk Knuppel could out of the way.

The play came early in the second quarter when Dylan Harper threw a alley-oop pass to Victor Wembanyama who proceeded to dunk over Knuepel. Wembanjama rolled to the basket when Harper saw him, and was actually facing away from the basket when he caught the pass. In what was all too common during the early stages of his career, Vembanyama took advantage of his otherworldly athleticism turn your body while in the air and nail it all in one move.

By halftime, Vembanyama had six points, one rebound and one assist in just over 16 minutes of play. Other than this game, the Spurs have been one of the best teams in the NBA, currently holding the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference standings. And the big reason for that was continued development of Vembanyama.

A generational talent and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Vembanyama was recently selected for his second All-Star appearance. He will be part of the World Team under the league’s new All-Star Game format.

Vembanjama suffered a calf injury earlier in the season, and after his return, he came off the bench. But he has since returned to his place in the starting line-up. He appeared in 33 games with just over 28 minutes per game.

He averaged 24.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 blocks while shooting 50.6 percent from the field, 37 percent from the 3-point line and 83 percent from the free throw line.
