Kobe Altman talks about the stunning trade to the Kings

The Cleveland CavaliersThe Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls have made a three-team trade official. Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis and Emmanuel Miller are headed to the Cavs, De’Andre Hunter is destined for Sacramento, and Dario Šarić is bound for the Bulls. Cleveland president of basketball operations Koby Altman made his first public comments about the deal since it was made official Sunday afternoon.
“After careful evaluation and a clearer look at the Eastern Conference landscape, we believe the additions of Dennis and Keon strengthen our depth, expand our flexibility and position us to continue building a championship-caliber team now and into the future,” Altman said in a team press release. “In a season defined by its parity, this move better aligns us for a deeper postseason run.”
“I’m also grateful to De’Andre, who made an immediate impact upon his arrival in Cleveland and represented the Cavaliers with class. We appreciate everything he’s done for us both on and off the court, and we wish him the best in Sacramento.”
The The Cavs also acquired Miller from the Bulls in the transaction. Since he is a contract player, Cleveland had to make room, so they waived Luke Travers.
“We drafted Luke in 2022 and we’ve seen his development improve every year and we thank him for his contributions to the franchise,” Altman said.
The Cavs just announced their five-game West Coast road trip in a lopsided loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday. They will look to right the ship against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night at Moda Center.
Cleveland will then have a few days in Los Angeles before facing the Clippers at the Intuit Dome on Wednesday. The Wine and Gold will continue their momentum against the Hunters and Kings on Saturday, before finishing with a battle with Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Monday, February 9th.
