Jason Kidd was fined $35,000 for swearing after a Rockets game

Mavericks head coach slapped by NBA Jason Kidd with a $35,000 fine for criticizing the officiating in Sunday’s 111-107 loss to the Houston Rockets. Kidd called out the refs after the game.

The NBA fired back with $35,000 fineaccording to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Dallas Mavericks “Head coach Jason Kidd was fined $35,000 for criticizing officials and using profanity during a media interview following the Mavs’ 111-107 loss to the Rockets on Jan. 31,” Siegel reported.

Kidd didn’t hold back from the referees during his postgame media availability, according to ESPN.

“I saw the foul. Sean (Wright), Simon (Jelks) and Jason (Goldenberg) were terrible tonight. The refs were unacceptable. It’s a foul, and he has to be at the free throw line. Now, does he make both? That’s on the player, but the refs didn’t do their job. They were told it was terrible.

Kidd likely expected this punishment from the NBA, which didn’t stop him from speaking out for Cooper Flagg, who he believes was fouled on the play near the end of the game.

Before relying on the officials, the Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd began his rant after the game about the media when a reporter asked him about the criticism Kidd faced for playing rookie Cooper Flagg at point guard.

Then Kidd took aim at the officials retorting at the reporter for his question about Flagg, according to Grant Afsett of the Dallas Hoops Journal.

“Criticism? That’s your opinion,” Kidd said. “You guys write that bulls—. That’s not — I’ve done this. I’ve played this game. I’ve played it. I know what the hell— I do. I don’t give a f— what you write because you’ve never played the game. I build players, so I know what the hell— I do. So if I understand what the hell— I do. So if I understand, criticism makes me better, only if I work I wouldn’t poke holes in what I’ve done.”

The Mavericks will host the Celtics on Tuesday.
