Clippers, 76ers discuss possible James Harden trade to Cavs before game

On Monday night, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannick and ESPN’s Shams Charania announced that it is The Los Angeles Clippers were in talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers in a trade that would Swap James Harden and Darius Garland. The reports came amid the Clippers’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Intuit Dome.

Now more information is coming out about how players for both teams react to news in real time.

“Players on both teams, the Clippers and Philly 76ers, were whispering about the situation before the game and even discussed the concept of him ending up in Cleveland before reaching the top,” NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported.

It was certainly a bizarre scene at the Intuit Dome as fans in the seats and players on the floor discussed the possibility of a trade while the game was being played.

Meanwhile, Harden missed this game for personal reasons and was not present at the arena, and some speculate that it could have something to do with a potential trade on the horizon.

Many fans were surprised when reports surfaced of a potential trade for Harden, given that the Clippers have been playing some of the best players in the NBA for over a month now.

Windhorst also detailed some of the challenges Los Angeles could face in trying to move him.

“…whether Harden goes to Cleveland or somewhere else, he has a unique contract that plays an important role. He has the ability to block any trade so the Clippers have to work with him,” he noted.

If the Clippers were to bring Garland back, they would be getting a much younger solution for a point guard who theoretically has room to grow, but also has a major injury history, which has been shown once again this year.

Oddly enough, the Clippers’ next game is against the Cavs on Wednesday night.
