How Ja Morant could help Domantas Sabonis get to the Raptors

The The Memphis Grizzlies trade Jaren Jackson Jr. for three picks in the first round was a big signal that they are ready to go into rebuilding mode, and they still have some more moves to make. The next big one is moving Ja Morant, who has interest from several teams until the trade deadline.
The Grizzlies are now a team that can partner and help in other trades, and with Toronto Raptors allegedly asking to go for Domantas Sabonisthey might be of use. That means there’s a chance the Kings could land Morant in a hypothetical Brett Sigel trade from Clutch Point.
“Again, if Memphis wants to rebuild, Kleiman will not want to take any long-term salary,” Siegel wrote. “The Grizzlies are solely focused on finding a way to move Morant before Thursday, which leads to the idea of the Kings being a potential suitor for the star guard if Memphis picks up Poeltl’s contract.”
“This would offer an avenue for Sacramento to move DeRozan, who is owed just $10 million of his $25.7 million salary if he opts out this coming offseason, by adding draft compensation. Again, this is just a hypothetical route for the Kings to forgo future money and make a deal to send Sabonis to Poel Toronto without taking Poel Toronto’s contract.”
This could be a deal where all three teams get what they want, but it’s also uncertain whether the Kings really want Morant. The Kings may also be looking to make some big changes between now and the offseason, having already traded Dennis Schroeder and Keon Ellis for De’Andre Hunter.
As for the Grizzlies, with them going through a possible rebuild, taking on a long-term salary would be a setback, unless they opt out of it. As for the Raptors, they’ll be happy with just about anything as long as they can get Sabonis.
