Draymond Green, Lakers share mutual interest in Warriors trade talks

With the rush of already concluded deals and NBA trade deadline still a day away, the only major domino yet to fall is Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Now it is quite possible that tomorrow it will not move, and Antetokounmpo recently reaffirmed his desire to stay with the Bucks. But it’s no secret that the Golden State Warriors want Giannis, and they do willing to move Draymond Green in a potential trade. And that could eventually see Green in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey.

With the Warriors reportedly keeping Jimmy Butler off the table in the Giannis trade with the Bucks, Draymond Green would be the main salary, and then he could eventually be redirected to the Lakers, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN. Green clearly has no desire to stay in Milwaukee, neither he nor the Lakers they would have a mutual interestas confirmed by ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel.

What’s also important is that Windhorst suggested this could be the point of no return for the Warriors and Green. That if Green isn’t traded for Antetokounmpo at the deadline, he could be traded in the offseason, not necessarily for Giannis.

Along with Stephen Curry, Jonathan Cummings, Moses Moody and Gary Payton II, Green is one of the last remaining roster spots for a championship team in 2022. Green and Curry are the only holdovers from any title team before that.

Green has appeared in 42 games this season, averaging just over 26 minutes per game. He averaged 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 41.3 percent from the field, 31.9 percent from the 3-point line and 70 percent from the free throw line.
