Fans reacted wildly after Washington’s stunning Pistons upset
Towards the second half of the 2025-26 NBA season The Washington Wizards are highly anticipated to perhaps do everything in their power to increase their chances of landing the top pick given how much they owe the New York Knicks to their first-rounder if he falls outside the top eight. But no one seems to have told the young Wizards the memo.
On Thursday night, the Wizards defeated the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons, 126-117, behind an impressive display from their young bench — with Will Riley and Sharif Cooper leading the way. Washington even kept their top active players to limited workloads and still came out on top despite Cade Cunningham’s 30-8-8 night.
Something may be brewing in the nation’s capital, and they are in a good position to compete next season, especially after bringing Trae Young and Anthony Davis at such bargain prices. The Wizards are on a rapid upward trajectory, and fans couldn’t be happier on social media.
“Resting young talent for younger talent. Brian Keefe is actively trying to lose this game and the Wizards somehow get a dub,” X user @DoublePoint_s wrote.
“As a wizard fan, I’m very curious to see the roles the young guys will play next year. but other than that, I’m super (excited) because we’ve been in hell for a long time,” @GIJ009 he added.
“wizards are already showing clips to whom the top of the East belongs at next year’s fairs”, @termiami further.
Wizards will soon have a very complex roster

Health permitting, the Wizards will be a playoff team next year. Getting at least 60 games from Davis would be crucial, however, it shouldn’t be asking much, especially when he’ll be paired with a talented big man in the frontcourt in Alex Sarr.
Young also remains one of the best playmakers in the NBA, freeing up the likes of Keyshaun George and Tre Johnson to focus on other aspects of the game while their floor general takes care of business.
