Gershon Yabusele made a big sacrifice to join Chicago

It is clear that nothing will be easy Guerschon Yabusele so far this season. Relegated to the end of Mike Brown’s bench in the Knicks, 3-4 tricolor columns was finally sent to Bikovenot without having to make a last ditch effort to facilitate the transaction.
Our colleague Ian Begley indeed indicated that Gershon Yabusele asked the Knicks to modify his contract to simply eliminate his 2026-2027 “player option,” worth $5.7 million. He also claims that without this financial effort, the trade would not have happened, and the Knicks would not have been able to bring in Jose Alvarado afterward. This was confirmed by the Frenchman at the microphone of our colleague Mickael Laviolle.
“My contract was a little different to theirs and we decided to do it so I could come” explains Jabusele, the author of the big double-double against the Raptors. “It’s to help and make it easier for me to get here and be able to play. We’re going to bet on ourselves again and it’s going to go well.”
A smile found
This leaves the Bulls with more wiggle room to build their roster next season, while the player will have to bet on himself again at the end of the year to make the most of the situation. The goal will be to prove ourselves as much as possible in order to be attractive again this summer on the “free agent” market and extend the adventure in the NBA league. All with a big smile on his face.
“It makes me really, really good” confides. “So obviously I want to thank God for the opportunity I had to stay here, to come there. Obviously I also thank the Bulls for deciding to trade me because they believed in me. Since I’ve been here, from the beginning, everyone has been very nice to me. Coaches, players, even physical therapists. I knew one that I was with in Boston. When you come to a team like that and there are a lot of people who tell you that they are happy that you are there and that we are really pushing you, already in terms of confidence, before the match starts, you already feel good.
