Kerr’s “championship” mic dropped after the Suns’ comeback

The Golden State Warriors101–97 the comeback win over the Phoenix Suns carried far more emotional weight than a typical mid-season result. Game without Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry, Warriors were trailing by as much as 14 points in the fourth quarter before putting on one of their most resilient pieces in recent memory.
Speaking after the game, Steve Kerr had a hilarious anecdote to play with.

“It felt like we won the championship. We needed it. We really needed it,” he said per clip published on X journalist Anthony Slater.
Kerr was not only delighted with the victory, but also claimed that it represented much more than a comeback.
“Just the emotion of it all. The last two days, losing three of our guys that were loved in the locker room, losing Jimmy Butler to a season-ending injury, Stephen Curry being out, it’s just … everything was tough the last week or ten days,” he explained.
Golden State responded with a defensive breakthrough and closed out the game on a big late run, holding Phoenix to just a few points in the final minutes. It wasn’t the stars who contributed to the comeback, but the role players who stepped into greater responsibilities.
Pat Spencer led the team in scoring, while Guy Santos, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II made key plays on both ends.
“It felt like a great team win. Everybody fought. Everybody competed. Everybody stuck with it. It was nice, nice to watch,” Kerr said.
Gary Payton II came off the bench to score 15, while Santos and Melton added 17 and 18, respectively. The Suns saw Devin Booker score a game-high 24 points, while Grayson Allen added 21. The Warriors will now play the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Suns will host the Philadelphia 76ers.
