Cam Johnson praises James Harden, Donovan Mitchell

Cleveland The Cavaliers got better at the trade deadlineadding three new pieces to the squad that should help them compete for the rest of the season. The biggest move was acquisition of James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippersas the Cavs add another All-Star to their backcourt Donovan Mitchell.

Many people are high on the moveincluding some of the players in the league. Cam Johnson of the Denver Nuggets is one of them, and he talked about the Cavs’ new backcourt on his podcast.

“That’s a backcourt that can score. (James Harden and Donovan Mitchell) can score 50 every night,” Johnson said. “They had the bones, they were really good. (Darius) Garland was hurt all year, and even when he played, he came back with that leg. Adding James adds a different level to a 31-21 Cleveland team, so they’re better than their current record, and they should be taken seriously in the East.”

The addition of Harden will definitely make them better than they have been this season, especially since Garland has been nursing a foot injury for the most part. Harden played at a high level for the Clippers this season and was one of the reasons they were able to break out of their early-year slump.

Although Harden and Mitchell are ball-dominant players, both have shown a willingness to share the ball. Harden has played with other ball-dominant players throughout his career, and it has worked well, so this should be no different.

Harden should also be a plus for players like Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, and they could get even easier looks when he’s on the court.

The Cavs should definitely be a team to watch for the remainder of the season, and it will be interesting to see if they can make a deep postseason run.
