Ayo Dosunmu writes a love letter to Chicago

The Chicago Bulls have an obvious gap without Aio Dosunmu on the floor. His high-energy play and defense were crucial to their rotation. On Thursday, Dosunmu was traded on Minnesota Timberwolves. In exchange, they received Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round draft picks.

Despite the trade, Dosunmu he didn’t forget where he came from. Dosunmu posted a touching love letter to his hometown of Chicago on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.

“Dear Chicago, you will always be my first love,” he told Dosunmu. “From the halls of Beasley and MPHS to the tunnels of the United Center, you have been with me every step of the way.

“Thank you to my teammates, #BullsNation, coaching staff and administration team, media and UC staff for an unforgettable five years!” he said. “While my time in a Bulls uniform may have come to an end, that’s not the story; the story (and blessing) is that it happened. I sincerely thank the Bulls front office for making it so.”

“As I confidently walk through this new door that God has opened, rest assured that I will never forget where I came from – you can take the child out of Chicago, but never the Chicago out of the child!”

Reflecting on my journey, 2021. Dosunmu was compiled from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He played for the Bulls for five seasons, cultivating a personality as a fierce, offensive and defensive presence. He can score from anywhere on the floor, attack the basket and disrupt the defense.

As his impact has continued this season, Dosunmu is averaging 15.0 points and 3.6 assists per game. He played out the last year of his contract.
