A guaranteed contract for Kobe Sanders in the Clippers
Among the good surprises of the second round of the last draft, Kobe Sanders logically he will have the right to end the season with Clippers. Drawn in 50th position by the Knicks and signed to a “two-way contract,” the 23-year-old guard was nearing the 50-game mark with the first team after being active 45 times in 43 appearances, including 11 starts.
The Clippers have therefore made it official reclassification of his contract on a standard contract that allows him to support the Los Angeles franchise until the end of the season. Note that the California outfit’s 14th guaranteed contract comes with a “team option” for the 2026/27 season.
Kobe Sanders quickly gained the trust of Tyronn Lue, who entrusted him with more than 20 minutes of play, averaging 7 points and 2.5 rebounds.
“He’s just a confident player, he’s not afraid of the moment”, the Clippers coach confided a month ago. “He’s already made big shots for us and he’s not afraid to make them. But I think the most impressive thing is defensively. We can put him on the opposition’s best player, and with his size, his length, he has the ability to defend against smaller guards as well as against players taller than him. »
Now he will have to forge new automatisms with the recruits who have arrived to complete the running back positions, Darius Garland and Benedict Maturin. He should be followed by Jordan Miller, also signed to a two-way contract, with a similar deal. In his third year, the guard is averaging more than 9 points and 3 rebounds in nearly 20 minutes per game. But the Clippers can still wait, considering he only has 30 games under his belt.
