Nikola Jokic on playing “the right way” after passing Oscar Robertson

On Saturday night, The Denver Nuggets continued their winning ways along the comfortable path of victory via the Chicago Bulls. While things looked tough entering the final frame, the Nuggets were able to outscore the Bulls by 23 points in the fourth quarter to get the win.

It was a monster game for Nikola Jokicwho recorded a triple double of 22 points, 17 assists and 14 rebounds, surpassing Oscar Robertson for the second all-time triple double in the process.

After the game, Jokić gave his all a blunt reaction to the news.

“I think that’s the right way to play basketball, and I hope to continue to play that way,” Jokic said, per AltitudeTV’s Katie Wing on X, formerly Twitter.

Jokic now has 182 career triple-doubles, trailing only former Nuggets teammate Russell Westbrook for the most all-time with 207.

Jokic recently returned from a knee injury that sidelined him for several weeks and wasted no time getting back into MVP form. While Denver recently lost both Peyton Watson and Aaron Gordon to hamstring injuries, they also return Christian Brown and Cameron Johnson, which should allow them to stay afloat even as injury concerns continue to pile up.

Of course, having the undisputed best player in the world in Jokic will certainly help in that effort, and it’s not out of the question that Jokic could challenge Westbrook for the number one spot in NBA history in triple-doubles as early as this season, or perhaps early next year.

The Nuggets are currently 34-19 and stayed quiet at the trade deadline, opting to continue moving forward with the team they have now.

Either way, the Nuggets will next hit the floor Monday night at home against James Harden and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
