Draymond Green sends NBA warning to Jonathan Cummings

Recently, the Golden State Warriors shook things up merchant Jonathan Cumminga and Buddy Hield for the Atlanta Hawks in replacement for big man Kristaps Porzingis. The move finally ends the bizarre Kuminga saga in Golden State, which saw him largely pulled from head coach Steve Kerr’s rotation this season.
However, Kuminga has a supporter in a former Warriors teammate Draymond Greenwho recently spoke about how he envisions the former lottery fitting in with the Hawks.
“He can become a cornerstone of that franchise with.” Jalen Johnsonthose two guys run downhill on you in transition, good luck,” Green said, on The Draymond Green Show on X, formerly Twitter.
Kuminga will indeed join Hawks forward Jaylen Johnson, a recently named 2026 All-Star, who is one of the most explosive transition players in the NBA. Kuminga has also been praised for his athleticism and willingness to run the floor, so he should help fit Atlanta’s vision of building a young team of athletic, multi-tasking wings.
Currently, Kuminga is out of the lineup with a knee problem, but it doesn’t seem to be anything long-term.
Meanwhile, Porzingis is also out for Golden State as he is prone to the Achilles problem that has sidelined him for the past few weeks with the Hawks. When healthy, Porzingis projects to provide Golden State with a top five that can defend the rim and give Stephen Curry extra floor spacing to work with.
However, health has always been a major concern for the Latvian big man, and that has continued this year during his time in Atlanta.
Either way, the Warriors will next take the floor Monday night at home against the Memphis Grizzlies.
