Alperen Sengun replaced the injured SGA in the All-Star game

The The Houston Rockets are back on the road Saturday night with a road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander misses this one due to stomach strain, which will keep him away from the upcoming one NBA All-Star Game.

On Sunday, the Rockets won some good news about who will be SGA’s replacement for the big game.

“NBA commissioner Adam Silver named Rockets center.” Alperen Sengun as an All-Star replacement for Shay Gilgeous-Alexander on the World Team,” NBA insider Chris Haynes reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Sengun has been playing solid basketball for the Rockets all season, and while there have been some questions over the past few games about his defensive effort, as well as his relationship with head coach Im Udok, he remains one of the best young centers in the league, and has been a key part of the Rockets’ impressive rebuild over the past few seasons.

Sengun will play for the “World Team” in the All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Sunday as the NBA switched to a “USA vs. World” format in a desperate bid to get some competitive fire out of the players amid growing complaints from fans.

Sengun will have a chance to showcase his talent to the full against some of the best players from both conferences, although lingering injury concerns for several stars have threatened to loom over proceedings.

Either way, Rockets fans can see Sengun in action Sunday night at the Intuit Dome.
