Sam Darnold’s parents get a heartwarming shout-out at the Super Bowl

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is currently on a high after winning his first NFL championship. He helped The Seahawks manage the New England Patriots29-13, in Super Bowl LKS at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
Darnold raved about his teammates as they celebrated their hard-won victory. He also got emotional as he shared it with the people closest to him — the ones who never wavered in their faith in him despite falling repeatedly before finally breaking through in his first season in Seattle.
The 28-year-old Darnold made sure of that tilted hat them.
“It’s special. I shared a great moment with my parents and my fiancee Katie after the game, and I think that got me going a little bit. My dad and I don’t cry very often,” Darnold said.
“I told my dad and mom that I’m here because of their belief in me. They’ve believed in me my whole career. I think that’s why I’ve been able to believe in myself almost to the point of nausea.”

The narrative that previously surrounded Darnold was that he was not a founding leader. Many felt that he could not lead the team to the title, especially since he had already jumped to several teams. Some believed that he was not made for the big stage.
All of that could play out in Darnold’s confidence. But he stayed the course, finding new purpose with the Seahawks on a three-year deal after the Minnesota Vikings decided to move on from him.
Now he has found justification, and what better way to honor it than by giving credit to those who have been with him from the beginning.
