Quentin Grimes is getting 100% real with Paul George’s suspension

Recently, the The Philadelphia 76ers have some tough news when it was announced that Paul George is suspended for 25 games for violating the league’s substance policy. Despite this, the team has been playing well of late, with a nice away win over the Phoenix Suns recently.

After George’s suspension, some players had to step up to bigger roles, incl Quentin Grimeswhich recently became 100% real his reaction to the news.

“I’m staying ready. It was uncertain and unexpected. But that’s what I’ve been working on all summer and all season,” Grimes said, per Mark Medina of Essentially Sports. “That way I would stay ready for more chances and more shots. It’s a tough position for the team. But you have to be ready when your name is called and step up.”

Grimes has had quite a rough season for the 76ers this year after sitting out the 2024-25 season, but his teammates certainly aren’t giving up on him.

“We’re going to get to a point where he’s going to really take off,” center Joel Embiid said. “I think a lot of it is his confidence. I know he hasn’t played as well as he would have liked. But I think there will come a time when he will really get going.”

Grimes remains a proven threat from beyond the arc that teams need to pay attention to defensively, even if his shots aren’t falling as often as he would like.

This of course gives more room for Embiid and 76ers star Tyrese Maxey to operate on offense, which is key to making Philadelphia as difficult to defend as possible.

Either way, the 76ers will be hoping George doesn’t miss a beat when he returns from suspension later this season.
