Serena Williams’ return to tennis is getting a major update

Eies was one of the best tennis players to ever play the game, as Serena Williams has a chance to make a comeback professional sports. The Sports Drug Testing Organization recently listed Williams as eligible for return to the competition on February 22, according to Ben Rothenberg of BAUNCES.
“Serena Williams will return to tennis before the end of this month, ending six months back in the tennis pool. Serena’s return is now officially official,” Rothenberg wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
This is six months after Williams registered with the International Tennis Integrity Agency and is now listed on the reinstatement page. Williams was quick to dismiss any rumors of her possible return when news first broke that she had registered with the ITIA to return to the drug testing group.
On social media, she simply said: “Omg yall, I’m not coming back. This fire is crazy”.
The the last time Williams competed in a match was the 2022 US Open, and it seemed like she was still leaving the door open for a return, especially since she didn’t want to say she was retiring completely.
Regarding the ITIA list, athletes returning for testing must provide information about where they have been when they are not at an official event and when they are available to provide samples. Athletes who withdraw while on the list and return must be available for testing for six months before being allowed to return to compete.
At this point, it’s uncertain if Williams will return, but if she wanted to, she seems to have met all the standards to do so.
