An injured Stephen Curry is out for All-Star weekend



The Golden State Warriors looking to end their three-game homestand at the Chase Center as they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. They will, however, have to try to do without Stephen Curry, who is still out with runner’s knee.

It’s been bothering Curry since he flared up during practice a few weeks ago. He hasn’t played since exiting in the third quarter against the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 30. The Warriors lost 131-124.

While fans hope the 37-year-old Curry will return soon, Kenzo Fukuda of ClutchPoints reported that the two-time MVP will be sidelined for a few more days.

“Steve Kerr has made it official that Steph Curry will not be available against San Antonio and will not participate in the All-Star game. He is still recovering from runner’s knee,” Fukuda wrote on X.

The Warriors will meet the Spurs on Wednesday. They are 28-25, including 17-8 at home, entering the game against the Grizzlies.

Curry has now missed 15 games this season. He is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals.

Curry will join the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the bench at next month’s All-Star Game in Los Angeles. Gilgeous-Alexander will sit out with an abdominal strain.

The NBA has yet to announce who will replace Curry. Alperen Sengun of the Houston Rockets was selected to take over for Gilgeous-Alexander.

Curry said while his the status of the knee is improvingstill dealing with pain and inflammation.

“It’s something we still have to monitor and manage the injuries, but it’s something that if I come back too soon, it could flare up,” the four-time champion said in a report by ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
