Franz Wagner reveals the “sky’s the limit” mindset after returning to Orlando

Only the third time this year, Franz Wagner was responsible for the Orlando Magic on Monday night.
After missing the last nine games with a high sprain in his left ankle, Wagner made his presence felt in a big way, matching his brother Mo with 14 points in just 17 minutes while shooting 6-of-010 from the field and .500 from beyond the arc.
Speaking about his return to the court for the Magic and how the team was able to overcome some early struggles to pull out a commanding win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Wagner noted that his team really came together on the defensive end of the court and was able to put it off until a clean sweep.
“Yeah, I thought we were a little sharper defensively, and we’re finally able to make some shots,” Wagner noted. “I mean, I thought we had a lot of good looks up front that just didn’t go through. So overall I thought, pretty consistent play for us.”
Asked how high the Magic’s ceiling can be now that they’ve started to rebound at the right time, Wagner said he still has unlimited confidence in his team and knows they can make waves moving forward.
“I think the sky’s the limit. Obviously, the season didn’t go, you know, the way we envisioned before,” Wagner said. “So, no, we need everyone we can get. We’ve already dropped too many. So, no, I think that has to be our mindset going forward.”
When Magic traded the king’s ransom for bring in Desmond Bain from the Memphis Grizzliesfans openly wondered if the Eastern Conference had a new power that could top the list for the foreseeable future. While that hasn’t happened yet, if Wagner continues to average nearly a point per minute, good things should keep coming for his team.
“It felt good to be back there.”
