Guy Santos has a great comeback with the game winner against the Grizzlies

The The Golden State Warriors will take every win they can get get while waiting for Stephen Curry and Kristaps Porzingis to return from injuries. On Monday night, they earned a narrow win over a A Memphis Grizzlies side whose competitive integrity must be questioned considering how they would benefit from increased draft lottery odds after their trade before the trade deadline.

With about eight minutes left in the period, the Warriors trailed the Grizzlies by 13, 108-95. From that point on, Golden State outscored Memphis 19-5, and Gui Santos completed the Dubs’ incredible comeback.

The last offensive possession for the Dubs was a mess. De’Anthony Melton was tied up, but proceeded to get a jumpball, which then started the mayhem. Al Horford missed a layup at the rim, then missed a layup. He then proceeded to dominate the boards but fell to the ground, throwing the possession into disarray.

Horford somehow stayed in the game and managed to get the ball to Santos, who was well composed as he faked GG Jackson stepped out of his shoes before scoring to give the Warriors a 114-113 win.

It was obvious that he was The Grizzlies were trying to find a way to losethough the Warriors deserve a lot of credit for getting the deal done. For starters, Memphis didn’t have one of Scottie Pippen Jr. or Ty Jerome on the field in the dying embers of the game.

The Grizzlies relied on a five that consisted of Jackson, Jamai Mashak, Jevon Small, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cam Spencer. This ultra-small unit paved the way for Horford to dominate the glass late in the game.

Maybe Jerome and Pippen have already reached their minute limit. But why did Cedric Coward only play 12 minutes a night? And why didn’t Tuomas Iisalo call a timeout to tie the game for Memphis, especially when their final possession went awry?
