Josh Hart reveals a hilarious performance from the Trail Blazers

Josh Hart accepted his role as one of the best side members in the association. Happy to do the dirty work, fighting for the boards and taking on tough matchups both on the perimeter and in the post New York Knicks. But once upon a time, Hart was called upon to be a major scoring weapon back when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers traded for Hart in 2022 as part of the deal CJ McCollum agreed to terms with the New Orleans Pelicansand during that year, the Blazers were in the middle of the tank amid Damian Lillard’s injury woes. With their playoff dreams long lost, the Blazers decided to make Hart one of their offensive weapons.

In 13 games since joining the Blazers, Hart has averaged 19.9 points per game – an average he likely won’t touch anytime soon with the Knicks. However, they went 4-9 in those games, making him a beloved player understand something deeply about his career.

“Yeah, I was getting buckets. And that’s when I knew, I was like, you know what? I’m a good basketball player and I can help a team win, but if I’m the number one or number two option on that team … I’m not a great team. Not a great team,” Hart said on his podcast, The Zimmers Show.

Josh Hart is NOT the primary scoring option for the Knicks

Hart is the fifth scoring option in the Knicks’ starting lineup, and he may be fifth no matter who is on the floor. He’s an impressive runner in transition and makes incredible use of his off-hand, but has significant deficiencies when it comes to scoring in the half.

The good news is that the Knicks don’t need Hart to score that many goals. They need him to defend multiple positions, clean the glass and hit open shots – which he often does for New York since joining the team in 2023.
