The unreal injury report for the Jazz game leaves the starting lineup unrecognizable
Approaching the last 27 games of the season, The Sacramento Kings currently have the worst record in the NBA, at 12-43. This puts them in prime position for the top five in the upcoming draft, as they can’t fall out of that range if they actually finish with the worst record in the league. But the Kings aren’t taking any chances ahead of Wednesday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz.
As reported by Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee, the Kings have stated likes of Domantas Sabonis (knee), Russell Westbrook (ankle), De’Andre Hunter (eye), Zach LaVine (finger), Malik Monk (illness) and Keegan Murray (ankle) are out for tomorrow’s contest with various injuries.
Anderson added that LaVine’s finger problem is now considered a tendon injury. Sabonis and Westbrook are under scrutiny, with the former missing a lot of time with a knee problem and the latter with so much wear and tear on his ankle.
But as much as the Kings justify the absence of their best players, it all comes down to protecting their status as the worst team in the NBA. It pays to tank in the NBA, and right now, this is the best action for one of the craziest franchises in the league.
The Kings are giving their young guys all the opportunities they can handle
The good news is that the Kings’ absence of established players means they will the team’s young players will prove themselves what they are made of. The likes of Nick Clifford, Maxime Reynaud, Dylan Cardwell and Devin Carter are expected to take on the heavy lifting along with the last veteran, DeMar DeRozan.
They’re up against another team looking to lose games to the Jazz, but the Kings will be so thin that it would have to be considered a miracle if they can pull out a win tomorrow night.
