Brandon Ingram is enjoying his return to the All-Star Game, six years later
When he was named an All-Star, Scottie Barnes regretted not being able to accompany him Brandon Ingram. The former Rookie of the Year had to smile again when the wing was called upon to play the all-star game instead of Stephen Curry.
Brandon Ingram learned of his selection midway through Tuesday’s Raptors practice. And the news his coach announcedDarko Rajaković.
“I didn’t understand what was going on,” admits Brandon Ingram. “Everyone congratulated me, I was the last to find out. Everyone jumped on me for five minutes. I guess the emotions were too great because Darko (Rajaković) canceled the rest of the training.”
For Brandon Ingram, this selection to the All-Star Game is a dedication. His last participation dates back to 2020, and since then the former Lakers and Pelicans have gone through complicated seasons, hampered by numerous injuries. Before this 2025/26 season, he was coming off a season in which he could only play 18 games.
Transferred to Toronto in February 2025he had to wait until October to take his first steps under Canadian colors. The now two-time All-Star used his convalescence period to first heal and then physically strengthen himself to avoid further injury.
Rehabilitation work that bears fruit
The work is paying off today as Brandon Ingram has only missed two games this season and is the 9th most minutes played player averaging 34 minutes a night.
“Since he got here, he’s been working a lot,” underlines Darko Rajaković. “He had a complicated summer with a lot of recovery, a lot of boring workouts to get healthy and ready to be on the field. The fact that he only missed two games is a testament to his effort.”
Among Brandon Ingram’s goals was this All-Star Game selection. However, the winger admits: he did not think he would be selected this season. Even if he is aware that he was called upon to fill in for a retired player, Scotty Barnes’ teammate wanted to thank the Raptors staff.
“Before the season started, I knew I was going to be rusty at times,” admits Brandon Ingram. “I knew sooner or later I was going to get back to my level of play and it was going to happen during the All-Star break. Coming back from the injury, I knew I was one of the best players in the league and that I had a chance. I want to thank the staff that took care of me and made sure I was healthy. I also want to thank the front office that always believed in my best position in my game, which is my best position in me. level, not forgetting the coaches who push me every day »
The selection of Brandon Ingram is the icing on the cake of a successful first part of the season for Toronto. The Raptors are in contention for the Top 4 in the East and will have two representatives during the All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
