Devin Booker’s shocking confession about the 3-point contest call

PHOENIX – During All-Star weekend, Devin Booker is heading back to the NBA 3-point contest. However, it comes as a bit of a surprise to many, including Booker himself.
The latter is shooting just 31.1% from deep on 5.5 attempts per game. Should the season end, it would statistically be the worst percentage of his career.
Regardless, Booker is eager to leave, but knows there is an underlying reason for his invitation.
“We’re a 3-point shooting team, so I’m here for Colin (Gillespie), Royce (O’Neal) and Grayson (Allen),” Booker said in the locker room after the game.
“It’s going to be fun. I like the game, too. It’s earlier in the day now. … I’m already down there and I can shoot pretty well off the bench.”

Gillespie, O’Neal and Allen have three of the top 4 attempts from beyond the arc for Phoenix. It fits perfectly into the ideology of the 3-ball and the space game.
Devin Booker will represent the Suns’ shooters in the 3-point contest
Booker has won the competition previously, dating back to 2018. He burned the final round and had a record 28 points in the final round. He has quite a bit of competition, led by Damian Lillard and Jamal Murray.
He will have a busy All-Star weekend, as he will play as one of the USA reserves on Sunday. It will be Booker’s fifth time in the big game in addition to the 3-point contest.
A good part of why he’s there may have to do with playing Phoenix. They are Top-10 in performance, attempts and 3-point percentage.
Even if Booker doesn’t contribute like his teammates in that category, shooting from the rack and lack of real game speed may help him bring home another trophy.
If he does, he will likely be split between Gillespie, O’Neill and Allen.
