Cooper Flag will miss All-Star weekend with a sprained foot
Heading into the All-Star break, one of the biggest stories around Dallas Mavericks was appearance of Cooper Flagg.
One of the undisputed rising stars of the NBA’s next generation, Flagg was set to appear in the Rising Stars game during All-Star weekendbut according to ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel, he won’t be able to play, as an MRI revealed a sprained foot that will cost the rookie team.
“Mavericks star rookie Cooper Flagg underwent an MRI that revealed a left midfoot sprain,” Siegel wrote. “He will miss Thursday’s game and will not participate in Rising Stars this weekend during All-Star Weekend.”“
Widely regarded as an elite prospect before he even set foot on a college court, Flagg had a stellar season at Duke to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, landing in Dallas as a replacement for Luka Doncic despite being low single-digit lottery picks. While things didn’t take off right away, with some dumb question asking if Flagg was a bust every week of his career, he turned things around in short order, quickly becoming the favorite to win Rookie of the Year once again, just like he was before the season started.
With Flagg now sidelined during the All-Star break, Mavericks fans won’t have much to look forward to as the NBA world descends on Los Angeles for a weekend of fun and festivities. Fortunately, the Mavericks have indicated that the 2025-26 season is a transition season as they fully rely on the Flagg era, so waiting until next year’s All-Star Weekend to see their young star shine seems like the course to take for the Dallas fan base.
