Jaren Jackson Jr. will likely miss the rest of the season with an injury

The Utah Jazz have a bright future ahead of them, especially with addition of All-Star talent team at the trade deadline. To ensure that the future is indeed bright, it seems Jaren Jackson Jr. he will miss the rest of this season to undergo surgery on the knee, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

“PLOOM: Utah Jazz star Jaren Jackson Jr. will likely miss the rest of the season to undergo left knee surgery to ensure his long-term health after localized PVNS growth was discovered after the trade, league sources tell me,” Haynes wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

It is uncertain if this appeared on the physical before the trade, instead of after it was completed. Either way, it’s a good thing the Jazz are doing something about it now, because it could lead to long-term damage to the knee.

Jackson played just three games with the Jazz after being traded, and seemed to fit in nicely with Lauri Markkanen and the rest of the team. Now they’ll have to wait until next season to get the full scope of what they can be when healthy.

The Jazz surprised everyone at the deadline when they traded for Jackson, and it was an indication that they were ready to get back into contention. The Jazz were near the bottom of the Western Conference standings for years and were lottery picks.

There’s no doubt they’ll be picking in the lottery again after this season, but maybe they want this to be the last time they do it.

In fact, while the Jazz haven’t publicly come out and said they’re losing games on purpose, it’s clear that something has been going on in the last few games as head coach Will Hardy was happy to sit down with Jackson and Markkanen in the fourth quarter.
