Chris Paul is officially retiring from the NBA after releasing the Raptors

In what should be Chris Paul’s last season in the leaguehis retirement tour didn’t go as he expected. After things didn’t work out with the Los Angeles Clippers, he was sent home and then traded to Toronto Raptors within the deadline.

No one expected him to suit the Raptors and the team officially renounced itaccording to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.

Shortly after Paul was rejected, he published on social networks to officially retire from the NBA.

“That’s it! After over 21 years, I’m retiring from basketball,” Paul wrote. “As I write this, it’s hard to really know what to feel, but for once – most people would be surprised – I don’t have an answer lol! But mostly, I’m filled with so much joy and gratitude! While this chapter of being an ‘NBA player’ is over, the game of basketball will forever be woven into the DNA of the NBA, more than in half of my life. For decades.”

Paul made it known before the start of this season that he wanted to be close to home while playing. The Clippers were the perfect fit for him, which is why he signed with them in the offseason. Unfortunately, that ship sailed after reports surfaced that the team didn’t get his style right. This led to Paul being sent homeand he was the first to report it in the middle of the night, since they had a game against the Atlanta Hawks that day.

This one situation won’t erase everything he did throughout his career, and he will be remembered for being one of the true point guards in league history.
