VJ Edgecombe shows love to Vince Carter before they beat Rising Stars



Philadelphia 76ers guard VJ Edgecombe assisted by Tim Vince they advance to the finals of Rising Stars after defeating Team T-Mac, 41-36, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Friday.

Team Vince was first to reach 40 points and Edgecombe scored the winning jumpercolluding with Team Melo for the mini-tournament title.

NBA legends Vince CarterTracy McGrady and Carmelo Anthony were chosen as coaches of the aforementioned teams. Former NBA guard Austin Rivers, meanwhile, took a shot at Team Austin, a group of G League players.

Before Rising Star, Edgecombe wore a shirt with Carter on it. He said he did only appropriate in honor of the Hall of Fame.

“After he drafted me, I remembered (the shirt). I had the shirt before he drafted me. I’m just, like, why don’t I put it on? I say, show the coach some love, man. OG,” Edgecombe said.

Edgecombe is expected to play Team Vince against Team Melo, who have made the final courtesy of courtesy The San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper’s game winner.

The first team to reach 25 points will take home the trophy.

The quick game is perfect for the 20-year-old Edgecombe, who was a whirling dervish in his rookie season. His backcourt duo with 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is exciting to watch. It’s like they were born to play next to each other.

Some of Edgecombe’s airstrikes they were likely inspired by Carter, who had a heated battle with the 76ers during his prime, including the 2001 conference finals.
