Fans celebrate VJ Edgecombe for Rising Stars MVP win

Philadelphia 76ers newcomer VJ Edgecombe shined brightest in the Rising Star at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Friday after carrying Team Vince to the title.
For a strong performance in the mini-tournament, Edgecombe was the runaway winner as MVP. In two games, he scored 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 6-of-7 from three-point range, and had seven rebounds.
He also drained the winners in both games, highlighting his willingness to perform in pressure-packed moments.
Fans praised the 20-year-old guard for his impressive performance on All-Star weekend.
“VJ has that clutch gene that you can’t teach. When the lights are at their brightest, he’s at his best,” he said @PhilliSports_V.
“VJ just put his name next to the legends,” he added @iamibtaihaj08.
“We got Valdez Edgecomb Jr. Real tears in my eyes right now,” wrote @lukatroncic23.
“I got Vince the ring before Mel and T-Mac,” published @SeahawksNicca, referring to Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady, who have been selected to coach the Rising Stars, along with Austin Rivers.
“VJ Edgecombe hits game-winner in BOTH Rising Stars games. This man chose All-Star weekend to introduce himself to the world,” commented @K1utchSzn.
Edgecombe joined Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala as the only 76ers players to be named MVP a rising star.
“Vince, you know, he just wanted me to be aggressive all the time. I showed him. I just tried to show him why he chose me as his first pick, which was a blessing,” Edgecomb said in the postgame conference.

The former Baylor also stands out honored Carter with a shirt in front of the Rising Stars.
Perhaps the dunk contest should be next for Edgecombe on All-Star weekend.
